I think it is important to realize as His children who are born again in newness of life are positioned permanently in Christ just by believing in Him--II Cor 2:17 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away behold new things are come."--this being literally our new, redeemed human nature and personality--the new Hillary, new Christoph...born in the very Spirit of the living God, we often fail to see however that it is just as real that is that our old self is still there within us--alive, but crucified...that's the reality of our condition. Positionally we are perfect in Christ, but conditionally we are still indwellt by a crucified old nature. Growth is about having the reality of our position (we are in Him by the Father's doing--see I Cor 1:30) overwhelm the reality of our condition (a fallen nature (flesh, old-self) crucified but able to rear its ugly head). God does not want us to feel guilty about this condition, He knows everything like you say, He just wants you to know He's there to depend upon, every moment, no matter what the feelings or circumstances. This is freedom, complete dependence on Him, faith is a noun, belief is the verb--as Jesus tells us over and over--"only believe." That's how we first come to Christ, that how we continue in Him in the abundant life He came to give us--Col 2:6. I do so enjoy you writings my daughter and I love you.
